Say No to ISP Email Addresses

An ISP is an internet service provider, most commonly known as companies like Cox or Eatel. When you begin using services with an ISP using a cable modem, router services, DSL or mobile communications, you are often offered a free email address that uses the domain name of the ISP. Because the email seems safe, secure and convenient, people often use the ISP provided email as their primary email address.
What does that mean for you?
While using your ISP seems convenient, there are huge downfalls to using an email linked to your home services. Of the downfalls, one of the most impactful includes losing access to your email once you switch providers or cancel certain services.
While losing access to an email may not seem like the biggest deal, remember that your online accounts, email communications, and data are all linked to your primary email address. Taking the time to switch all of your online accounts, inform family and friends, and switch business information over is 100% avoidable by using other email account providers.

A Gmail account can be linked to your own website’s domain if you own a business or organization, which makes your email more credible, more secure and of course, more unique.
When deciding to create a new email account, be sure to use research and data to find your best fit. Each provider has different pros and cons, which are easily identifiable. While there are options available through your ISP, know that your email will be deemed inactive when you switch providers. Remember to pick a safe, more secure provider that you can see yourself sticking with for a long time; after all, you use your email for all online activity.
